Who we are!

The Bluefield Preservation Society was founded in 2012 to protect rich local history while revitalizing the Great Bluefield Community by demonstrating the economic benefits of cultural and social preservation.  We believe that preservation equals progress.  We recently completed the Purchase of the Granada Theather to renovate it to become a movie cinema, performing arts theater, concert and recital hall.

Why are we doing this?

We believe that Bluefield has a rich heritage worthy of preserving.  Many people can share stories of wonderful times when Bluefield was a business and cultural hub for the area.  We believe there is an adequate base in surrounding counties to sustain substantial economic growth in the city's retail sectors.  Centrally located within a 50-mile radius is a population of over 500,000 people.
